How to Bulk Create Shipments with TUNL via CSV
Bulk Shipments CSV Upload Guide
Bulk Shipments CSV upload allows you to import a large number of orders to TUNL to create shipping labels efficiently. This can save a significant amount of time when booking shipments in bulk. In this guide, we'll provide a step-by-step guide on uploading a CSV and cover common CSV errors.
💡 Note: The Bulk Shipments feature is currently in BETA. Please contact support@tunl.to to enable this feature on your account.
Upload Orders via CSV
To upload your orders to TUNL via CSV file, follow these steps:
Navigate to Bulk Shipments: Click the Bulk Shipments menu item.
Download the Sample CSV: Click Download Sample CSV file to understand the expected column names and format.
Create Your CSV File: You can create your CSV file using Google Sheets or Excel. See how to create a CSV and review the validation rules and required fields below.
Upload Your CSV: Click the Upload CSV button and select your CSV file.
Temporary Upload & Error Check: Your file will temporarily upload to TUNL, and we will return any errors in the file format along with the number of successfully uploaded orders.
Handling Errors: If errors are found, you can:
- Exit the process to fix the file.
- Continue to review and purchase the successfully uploaded shipments.
Review Successful Orders: Once satisfied with your CSV file upload, click Review Successful Orders.
Check Shipping Costs: The cost to ship each order will be displayed based on your CSV file.
Select Orders to Purchase: Choose multiple or all orders from the table to purchase shipments.
Making Changes: If you need to make changes, exit the upload process, update the file, and restart the process. (In the future, TUNL will allow order edits within the app.)
Purchase Shipments: Once you have selected your orders, click Buy in the top-right corner of the table.
Confirm Collection & Finalise Purchase: Select your preferred collection time, review the total cost, and click Buy Labels.
Batch Creation: Your batch of shipments will be created. Please wait until this process completes before navigating away.
Email Notification: Once the batch is successfully created, shipments will be purchased in the background. This can take 5-15 minutes depending on the number of shipments. You will receive an email notification with a link to download the shipment labels once complete.
Carrier-Specific Batches:
- A separate batch is created for TUNL Economy, FedEx, and UPS shipments. If your CSV contains orders for multiple carriers, you will receive separate emails with labels for each carrier.
Required Fields & Validation Rules
To ensure a smooth upload process, your CSV file must include the required fields in the correct format.
To save time and avoid errors, we strongly recommend using the TUNL Orders CSV Template.
Common Errors & Troubleshooting
If your file upload fails, check for these common issues:
- Incorrect or missing fields – Ensure all required fields are included and correctly formatted.
- Trailing spaces in headers – Blank spaces after column names (e.g., Order Number instead of Order Number) can prevent the file from uploading.
