How to Set Up Shipping Rates Integration with Shopify Basic
How do I add TUNL rates to my Shopify Store? Do you have an integration?
This article explains how to integrate TUNL's shipping rates into your Shopify store if you are on a basic/unpaid plan. It covers the step-by-step process to set up basic shipping rates using Toolify Shopify App, enabling accurate static shipping cost calculations during checkout. The guide also includes troubleshooting tips to address common issues merchants may encounter.
Important to note:
- If you are on a Shopify plan higher than "Shopify Basic" you can use our TUNL Live Rates at Checkout feature.
Click here for the guide to install TUNL Live Rates at Checkout
- These rates only go up to 10kg's and only cover the most popular 20 countries that our customers ship to. We are currently working with Toolify to broaden this to our full rates.
- For the rates at checkout to work accurately, product and variant weights must be added in Shopify according to actual or volumetric weight for international shipping. You can follow this guide to bulk edit weights in Shopify.
- If your store already has another shipping integration loaded, Toolify will not work. Please get in contact with us so we can assist to integrate the rates another way.
⚠️⚠️⚠️ IMPORTANT Please note that this plugin will override your domestic shipping rates if they aren't merged. They will need to be merged to the shipping profile created by Toolify as per the step 2 below. Please contact Toolify support if you need a hand with this.
If you need a hand with this installation, use the chat icon on the Toolify app to get assistance

Step 3: Confirmation Screens
Filter Data
Choose which carriers and countries to export to Shopify and show on your checkout. If you are happy to select all, click "Save"

Price Grouping
Round out shipping rates and add a mark up to shipping.
We recommend rounding shipping to the nearest R5.00 and not adding a mark up to shipping (as per below). Once you have adjusted, click "Next".

Review Shipping Zone groups
You can disable rates for specific shipping zones here. Those shipping offers will not be proposed for the destinations in this shipping zone. Use the search field to search for countries, continents, shipping offers and carriers. Use the “Quick actions” buttons to operate on multiple rates at once, or use the small toggle button to disable a single rate. Once you are happy click "Next"
Sync to Shopify
Lastly, check that all your products that you are planning to ship are selected for this shipping profile and change the name of the shipping profile to "TUNL Rates". Click "Save & Create shipping profile".

Well done, you have now added our rates to your store!
Note: The Toolify app does not import orders from Shopify. It only displays the TUNL rates at checkout. Once you receive an order where the customer has selected a TUNL rate, login to app.tunl.to to book this shipment. We will be working on importing orders from Shopify soon.
