🚚 How Do Pickups Work?

Scheduling a pickup with TUNL is quick and easy, but there are a few things you should know to ensure a smooth collection. This guide explains how pickups work, what to expect, and what to do if you’re outside a major city or prefer to drop off your parcel.

📦 What’s Included in a Pickup?

When you book a shipment on the TUNL platform (excluding TUNL Economy), you can request a courier to collect your parcel from your address.

Here’s how it works:

Book before 10am for same-day collection

Shipments booked after 10am will be collected on the next business day.

Pickups run Monday to Friday only

Collections do not happen on weekends or public holidays. If your pickup falls on a public holiday, it will be automatically rescheduled to the next working day.

Pickup time slots are preferences, not guarantees

Carriers aim to collect by 5pm on your selected day, but actual arrival times may vary depending on driver routes and area coverage.

You can add brief pickup instructions

Add a short note (up to 55 characters) to help the courier find you – e.g. “ring bell” or “drive around the back”.

Note: Couriers cannot accommodate time-based requests like “before 2pm”.

Need to change your pickup?

If your collection was missed or your plans changed, you can easily reschedule the pickup directly from the shipment details page.

📋 How to Schedule a Pickup on the TUNL Platform

When booking your shipment on TUNL, you’ll see the Pickup/Drop-off section on the right-hand side of the screen. Here's how to schedule your courier collection:

Choose how the courier should get your parcel

In the dropdown next to “How should the carrier collect your parcel?”, select:

➤ Schedule a collection

Select the pickup date

Use the dropdown next to “When should the carrier collect your parcel?”

➤ You can choose Today or Next business day (same-day only available if booked before 10am).

(Optional) Add pickup instructions

Toggle the blue switch next to “Pickup instructions” to enable the input field.

➤ You can add a short note (max 55 characters) such as:

Please ring the bell or Drive around the back.

Note: Couriers cannot guarantee time-based requests (e.g. “before 2pm”).

🛑 Not All Services Include Pickup

TUNL Economy shipments do not include collection.

You’ll need to send your parcels to our warehouse at:

Unit 16, 22 Cumberland Road, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, 7405

🌍 Sending From Outside Cape Town or Johannesburg?

If you’re based outside of a major metro:

Collections may take an extra day or two, depending on courier coverage in your area.
Some couriers may charge an additional fee for pickups outside Cape Town or Johannesburg.
If you're using Shopify Live Rates, the fee will appear at checkout for your customers.
When you're booking on the platform, the see the fee when creating the shipment.

✨ Want to avoid this charge?

Update your “From” address to the TUNL warehouse (above) and drop off your parcel instead. This prevents the system from applying the additional collection fee.

If pickup isn’t available in your area – or you'd simply rather drop off your shipment – you can use a nearby location like PostNet.

Pickup issues (e.g. address problems or courier delays) will be shown on your shipment’s detail page.

We recommend checking in on the day of collection to confirm that the pickup is proceeding as expected.
