Landed Costs - Will my customer be charged any Duties, Fees or Taxes?
Will my customer be charged any Duties, Fees or Taxes?
For our Economy service to the USA: Your customers will not pay any additional duties, fees or taxes on arrival to the US. This is because we ship under the US de minimis. More information available here: https://help.tunl.to/en/article/de-minimis-values-l5lw7j/
For Express (UPS/FedEx) to anywhere else in the world: Duties, Fees or Taxes may be payable as determined by customs in the destination country based on shipment value, origin and commodity type.
Our system will calculate these costs on the "Checkout" step of the "Create Shipment" flow - so if you would like an estimate of these, please go through until you get to step 4. Screenshot below.

Who is Responsible for Payment?
The payment of duties, taxes and other fiscal charges are typically the responsibility of the receiver. This is our default when booking a shipment, called delivered at place (DAP). Please be aware that when shipping DAP, your customer might not expect the additional duties, fees and taxes bill from the carrier, this can cause a lot of friction post-sale and lead to less repeat business and word-of-mouth marketing from international customers so it is important to set expectations upfront.
TUNLs recommended approach to this problem is to ship international orders delivered duty paid (DDP). When shipping DDP, at the time of booking the shipment, we guarantee the costs, so there are no additional fees or costs for you or your customer.
To book a shipment DDP, at checkout, under Duties, Fees and Taxes, simply select “Bill my account (DDP)”.

I want to always ship DDP to ensure smooth delivery for my customers
Some of our merchants want to always send parcels Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) to cover the duties, fees and taxes on behalf of their customers for a smooth delivery experience.
Now instead of having to select DDP for every shipment, you can update your merchant profile to always send DDP.

How do I collect duties and taxes from my customers upfront so that I can always ship DDP?
There are a few strategies to making sure that shipping DDP works for your business:
Include DDP costs in your product pricing
include DDP costs in your shipping price
Use a third-party tool to collect duties and taxes at checkout
We are working on adding duties and taxes to our live shipping rates soon, stay tuned...
