๐Ÿš€ How to Set Up the TUNL WooCommerce Plugin

Welcome to the beta of the TUNL WooCommerce Plugin! ๐ŸŽ‰

This guide will walk you through the steps to connect your WooCommerce store to TUNL so you can start showing live international shipping rates (with duties & taxes included) at checkout.

โœ… What Youโ€™ll Need Before You Start

  • Access to your WooCommerce Admin Dashboard
  • A TUNL account (sign in at app.tunl.to)
  • Product weights, dimensions, and HS codes (for accurate duties & tax calculation)

๐ŸŽฅ Video Walkthrough

To make it even easier to understand how the WooCommerce Live Rates at Checkout feature works, weโ€™ve created a quick video walkthrough.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ How to Get Started

Step 1: Install the Plugin

Option A: Install via ZIP upload

  1. In your TUNL dashboard, go to Settings โ†’ Integrations โ†’ WooCommerce.
  2. Click Download Plugin โ€” this will take you to the official TUNL plugin page on the WordPress Plugin Directory.
  3. On that page, click Download to save the ZIP file to your computer.
  4. In your WooCommerce Admin, go to Plugins โ†’ Add New โ†’ Upload Plugin.
  5. Upload the ZIP, then click Install Now and Activate.

Option B: Install directly from WordPress Admin

  1. In your WordPress Admin, go to Plugins โ†’ Add New.
  2. In the search bar, type TUNL Shipping for WooCommerce and press Enter.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2: Generate Your API Token

  1. Go back to TUNL.
  2. Enter your WordPress website URL e.g. https://www.mystore.com
  3. Click Generate Token.
  4. Click Approve.
  5. Copy the token (click the copy icon โ€” youโ€™ll need it in the next step).

Step 3: Connect WooCommerce to TUNL

  1. In WooCommerce Admin, go to Settings โ†’ TUNL Plugin.
  2. Paste your API token into the field provided.
  3. Click Save API Token.

Step 4: Prepare Your Products

For rates to display correctly, each product needs:

  • HS Code:
  1. Edit a product in WooCommerce.
  2. Go to the Attributes section โ†’ add attribute called hs_code.
  3. Enter the correct HS code and save.
  • Country of Origin:
  1. Edit a product in WooCommerce.
  2. Go to the Attributes section โ†’ add attribute called country_of_origin.
  3. Enter the correct 2-letter country code (e.g. ZA) and save.
  • Weight & Dimensions:
  1. While editing a product, go to the Shipping tab.
  2. Enter Weight (kg) and Dimensions (L ร— W ร— H in cm).
  3. Save.

โš ๏ธ Important: without HS codes and shipping details, rates and duties will not display. Your WooCommerce store should be configured with kg for weight and cm for dimensions.

You can also set default fallback values for instances where your WooCommerce store doesn't provide complete product data. In your TUNL dashboard, go to Settings โ†’ Integrations โ†’ WooCommerce โ†’ Ecommerce Shipping Defaults to set these defaults. Remember to click "Save Changes" when you're done!

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: For bulk editing, use WooCommerceโ€™s built-in Product CSV Import/Export feature to quickly add or update hs_code and country_of_origin attributes for many products.

  2. Edit your international zone (e.g., Rest of the World).
  3. Click Add Shipping Method โ†’ Choose TUNL Shipping.
  4. Save.

Step 6: Choose Services & Duties Settings

  1. Back in your TUNL dashboard, go to Settings โ†’ Integrations โ†’ Rates at Checkout.
  2. Select which services you want to offer (Economy, Express).
  3. Choose whether to show rates with Duties & Taxes Included (recommended).
  4. Click Update TUNL Rates.

๐ŸŽ‰ Youโ€™re Live!

Thatโ€™s it! TUNL-powered live rates are now available in your WooCommerce checkout.

  • Customers will see transparent international shipping options with duties & taxes included.
  • Youโ€™ll save time and protect your margins with accurate, automated rates.

Migrating from the Old Plugin

If you already have the TUNL WooCommerce plugin installed, follow these steps to migrate to the new TUNL Shipping for WooCommerce plugin:

  1. Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Plugins โ†’ Installed Plugins.
  3. Locate TUNL Woo.
  4. Click Deactivate, then click Delete to remove the old plugin.
  5. In your WordPress Admin, go to Plugins โ†’ Add New.
  6. In the search bar, type TUNL Shipping for WooCommerce and press Enter.
  7. Click Install Now, then Activate.

๐Ÿ’ก Your data is safe: Existing merchant configuration and stored API tokens will remain available after installing the new plugin. You should not need to reconnect or reconfigure your account after migrating.

๐Ÿ”ง Troubleshooting

  • Rates not showing? Double-check that products have HS codes + weight/dimensions.
  • Make sure you have the latest version of the tunl-woo zip file.
  • Check your WooCommerce store is properly configured with kg for weight and cm for dimensions.
  • Still stuck? Contact us via Live Chat, or WhatsApp.

We're compatible with Bobgo! If you're having issues with getting rates, please do the following:

1. Make sure โ€œDonโ€™t return other services ratesโ€ is unchecked
  • In your WooCommerce store, Bobgo has a setting that prevents other shipping services from returning rates.

This must be unchecked, otherwise TUNL rates may be blocked.

Where to find it:

WooCommerce โ†’ Settings โ†’ Shipping โ†’ Bobgo โ†’ Integration settings

2. Add an International Zone in Bobgo (and keep it empty)
  • If youโ€™re not able to configure Bobgo rates for international destinations, add an International shipping zone inside Bobgo and set it to No rates.

This prevents Bobgo from overriding or interfering with TUNLโ€™s international rates.

Where to find it:

Bobgo Dashboard โ†’ Rates at Checkout โ†’ Add Rate / Add Zone โ†’ Select International

Below is what it should look like when you're done:
