β¨ What's new in TUNL live rates
Your live rates just got a lot more flexible. From 30 October, every store using TUNL live rates gets more control over what customers see and pay at checkout: free shipping, discounts, handling fees, duties by country and more. Everything you've already set up comes with you.
Find it all in TUNL under Settings β Integrations β Store Integration, then your store.
π Offer free shipping
Set a minimum order value and shipping is free above it. It's one of the easiest ways to lift your average order value. Set it up as a discount: 100% off shipping over the amount you choose.
πΈ Discount shipping, or add a handling fee
Take a percentage or a fixed amount off shipping, or add a fee to cover packaging. Limit any rule to orders in a value range, and cap percentages if you want to.
New: you choose how each one shows at checkout. Keep it simple with one shipping amount, or show your customer what they're saving, with a label you choose:
π Set duties and taxes by country
Charge duties at checkout, on delivery, or let your customer choose. Then set different rules for some countries. Already pricing duties into your products for the EU? Pick DDP - Do not charge for those countries and you're set.
π·οΈ Name your shipping options
Rename any carrier service, so FedEx International Priority can simply read Express. We add [Duties & Taxes Included] to the name for you whenever duties are paid at checkout.
π§Ύ Clearer rates for your customers
Every rate tells your customer exactly what they're paying for. Rates where duties are paid on delivery now say so, with the estimated amount, so there are no surprises at the door:
Shipping: R 246.43 Β· Duties & Taxes: R 416.66 estimated, billed on delivery. Not guaranteed.
π Preview, then publish
See exactly what we'll send to your checkout, for any country, before it goes live. Make as many changes as you like, then publish them together when you're happy. Your store page shows when your rates are live.
π A shipping policy, written for you
We write a shipping policy from your settings, covering your services, delivery times, shipping costs and duties. Copy it straight into your store.
Make the most of it
A few quick wins once your store has the new setup:
- Add a fallback HS code. Under Checkout fallbacks and insurance. It means every order can show duties at checkout, even for products you haven't added an HS code to yet.
- Let us add the duties tag. If you typed [Duties & Taxes Included] into a service name yourself, remove it. We add it for you now.
- Move your Shopify discount into TUNL. If you discount TUNL rates with a handling fee in Shopify (Settings β Shipping and delivery β Edit rate), set it up as a TUNL discount instead, then remove the Shopify one. You get a label, an order value range and a preview.
- Check your rules. Your existing discounts and handling fees show at checkout just as they did before. Give each one a name that makes sense to you, and choose how it shows: added to the shipping price, or as a separate amount with your own label.
- Preview and publish. Check the preview, then click Publish to store.
On WooCommerce? If you're still using our older plugin, TUNL Woo, swap it for TUNL Shipping for WooCommerce from the WordPress plugin directory. It takes a couple of minutes, and your TUNL connection stays as it is. How to switch
