TUNL Shipment Protection: What It Covers and How to Claim
Shipping internationally? Even with the best couriers, things can go sideways. TUNL’s Shipment Protection is your safety net—covering lost, stolen, or damaged parcels so your business doesn’t take the hit.
Rate: 2.5% of the declared value of your goods
Minimum charge: R50 (covers up to R2,000 worth of goods)
Billing: Appears as a separate line item labeled “Shipment Protection” on your invoice
Note: Charged upfront and non-refundable once the shipment is dispatched or collected
Loss: When there are no tracking updates after 30 days
Theft: Marked as delivered but not received by the customer
Damage: Delivered but arrived damaged
Coverage limit: Up to $15,000 (approx. R280,000)
Applies to: Shipments from anywhere to everywhere

When booking your parcel:
Enter the value of the goods you wish to protect.
Ensure the minimum charge of R50 is met.
Tip: If you forget to add protection, cancel and rebook before collection.

Please note that the minimum cost for Shipment Protection is R50 which covers you for up to R2,000 worth of goods.
Step 1: Contact support@tunl.to as soon as you become aware that your parcel is lost, damaged or stolen. Do not contact our carriers - we will file a claim on your behalf.
Step 2: Complete the claim form.
Step 3: Provide the required documentation based on the issue:
No tracking updates after 30 days
Required:
Completed claim form
Customer statement about the loss
Original sales invoice (not commercial invoice)
Delivered but arrives damaged
Required:

Photos of the damaged product and packaging
Additional evidence if requested (e.g. pre-shipment photos)
Proof of salvage value
Any shipment that has tracks as delivered, but was not received by the end customer 30 days after the shipping label was created. Theft can also include misdeliveries where the parcel was delivered to the incorrect address.

Police report, security footage, or carrier letter
Completed claim form
Customer statement about the theft
Original sales invoice(not your Commercial Invoice)
Damage: Within 30 days of creating the shipping label
Loss/Theft: Completed within thirty (30) to ninety (90) days of creating your shipping label.
Review: TUNL reviews your documentation and liaises with the carrier and insurance provider.
Assessment:
Approved: Payout credited to your TUNL account under "Shipment protection payout" for future shipments.
Denied: No credits or refunds applied; associated charges remain on your account.
Note: While your claim is being processed, your account may still reflect the disputed charges, and you may receive payment reminders.
